Simms G3 Guide Wading Boot | Review

The Simms G3 Guide Fly Fishing Wading Boot is a popular choice for serious anglers who demand durability, stability, and performance. It's been around for a while, and for good reason: it's a reliable and well-rounded wading boot that can handle a variety of terrain and conditions.

Martin Langlands is one of those very serious anglers that has done more time on the river than most. We sent Martin a pair of the new G3 Guide boots to get his opinion. If Martin doesn't like something, he will tell you straight up...and when he does like something, it's well worth checking out what he has to say.

For some years now i have been a massive fan of Simms wading boots,  especially the Flyweight versions, however, that has in recent years changed and I now prefer shoes that have stronger foot and ankle support. When you are guiding over many kilometers of Canterbury river stones, boulders and uneven ground day after day, you need a wading boot that will stand up to the hard knocks.

That wading boot is the new Simms G3 Guide boot and it has totally blown me away! These fly fishing wading boots not only supply amazing support, they offer comfort like I have never experienced. Best of all they are extremely well designed to last for a long time. Robust stitching, super grippy soles and all round pure craftsmanship make these boots a solid performer.

Another huge positive is the higher ankle support that also eliminates small gravel and stones that quickly become rocks that often find their way into other shoes. When you combine the new G3 boots with with Simms neoprene socks, they are virtually impenetrable.

I found the wider sole on these boots gave a greater degree of traction both in the river and over land on the way to the bank. I have to admit, I was pretty stoked to see that they come with spare laces as a bonus. You can choose Simms Orange or grey depending on how fussy the fish are where you are.

I am 100% happy with these boots, and I've been wearing wading boots for over thirty years, so  the Simms wading boot evolution has definitely hit the sweet spot with the new G3! Ok, yes, I still love the Flyweight boots also as they make a great option to have for longer walks where less weight is required.

Overall, the Simms G3 is a great choice for anglers who are looking for a durable, stable, and comfortable wading boot. It's not the lightest boot on the market, but it's worth the extra weight for the peace of mind knowing that your feet will be protected and supported on even the most challenging terrain.

With its stellar reputation and proven performance, the Simms G3 Guide Boot is a top contender for the title of best wading boot on the market. If you're looking for a boot that can handle anything you throw at it then the G3 is a great option.
