Simms G3 Guide Wading Boots - Worn and Reviewed by Peter Panopoulos
After three intense weeks in New Zealand’s North Island and countless days in Victoria’s northeast, the 2024 G3 boots prove to be the ultimate choice for the hardcore adventure angler.
With their fully leather upper, glued and stitched abrasion-resistant rand, and tacky Vibram Idrogrip sole attached via a Norwegian Welt system, means the soles are fully replaceable ensuring these boots will see you through many seasons of backcountry adventures.
From sun up to sun down, the G3s deliver unparalleled performance, making them a must-have for any angler pushing the limits of their adventures.
Simms Flyweight Vest Pack - Worn and reviewed by Damien Reynolds
Finally it's been done. Simms has innovated a mechanism allowing you to fish light but pack heaps. The Flyweight Vest-Pack provides plenty of room for a jacket, net, or shoes and even a bladder. The use of a generous 15L backpack pouch with organisational dividers makes this a superb piece of kit.
It features a retractable front cradle for those bulky items all the while being super lightweight and breathable. Thankfully, this comfortable construction hasn’t sacrificed durability. I spent a day bush bashing through some of Northeast Victoria's finest blackberries and overgrowths and did not find a single hint of weakness or fragility from the pack.
Fishing light does mean being selective about your gear, which is the entire concept of the flyweight range so taking the time to choose appropriate gear for the flyweight pack is essential to getting the most out of it.
In short, the flyweight vest pack stays true to the Simms Flyweight range renown comfort and usability with space to put the kitchen sink in the back. It will totally help you ‘fish it well’.
