Meet Jonny 'Brooksy' Brooks

We sit down and have a chat to the YouTube legend that is Brooksy about his fishing journey.
When did you decide to jump into the world of YouTube and creating fishing content?
I started doing YouTube probably 9 years ago with some good mates with the Morningtide fishing channel. Didnäó»t plan on it but people enjoyed watching 3 idiots run around on the rocks trying to catch fish.

Whatäó»s your favourite or most hectic fishing memory?
Difficult question, haha! Seeing a 700+ lb tuna in real life come up beside the boat is gonna be burnt into my brain forever.
What was the motivation for picking up a fly rod? No doubt you live in an incredible part of Australia with some unreal flats fishing and big barra to target.
Fly fishing is starting completely fresh. Learning from scratch and all the frustration that comes with it. Been super refreshing.

What are some of your bucket list species and destinations? Any unfinished business with certain species?
I just wanna travel the world and fish remote zones. Got a couple trips up my sleeve that Iäó»ll keep secret for now... haha!

Favourite bit of Simms kit for long days on the water?
The Simms Solarflex Hoodies are epic. Best bit is that the hood doesnäó»t blow off in the breeze.
Any advice for young fishoäó»s wanting to give conventional or fly fishing a crack?
Watching YouTube vids is a great place to learn but nothing beats just getting out there and learning the hard way. The failures make the wins so much better.
