The Manic Guide To Fly Fishing In Taupo

Fly fishing in Taupo

Over the next few weeks we'll be uploading our guides on the local rivers, lakes and other fishing opportunities around the Taupo region and it will all live in one tidy location for you to check out if you're planning on fishing somewhere new down there, or revisiting an old haunt and want to see what changes have taken place.

Kyle Adams has put pen to paper in a big way to bring this to us but we'll also be getting input from locals, guys that have been fishing the area for longer than a lot of us have been alive and some of the one percenter fisherman that know the area like the back of their hand and have regular success when the rest of us struggle, you know the type.

Fly fishing in Taupo

There's been a lot already written on the Tongariro (and Taupo fly fishing in general) over the years, tons of books, magazine articles, internet pieces etc...so we're not going to attempt to be completely exhaustive in our guide but rather we're going to share our experiences, try and cut through some of the noise and just filter it down to a quick reference piece to help you hit the water running.

These articles are living and breathing documents that will be regularly updated with current info, changes in trends and tactics, and any up to date news that will help make your experience that much better the next time you're fishing the Taupo region.

So let's get the ball rolling with the river that symbolises all things Taupo fly fishing, the Tongariro.
