Team Tuesday - The good guys out there

At Manic we sell fishing product and we love it! However, at the end of the day there are a lot of people out there working and helping our communities, and lets face it, they do this for a lot less.

Some charities that we support and think do an awesome job are Reel Recovery and Stepping Stone Ministries.

Reel Recovery is a national not for profit organisation that conducts free fly fishing retreats for men recovering from all forms of cancer. Retreats are offered at no cost to the participants and are led by expert fly-fishing instructors.

A maximum of ten men are invited to participate, to ensure the quality of the instruction and to create a powerful small-group dynamic.

Men suffering from cancer do not have the same range of support programmes available as women and are generally unskilled at tapping into the support that is available. And men being men are often reluctant to ask.

The programme provides men with all forms of cancer a unique opportunity to share their stories, learn a new skill, form lasting friendships and gain renewed hope as they confront the challenges of cancer.

Stepping Stone Ministries is a faith based trust that is privately funded relying on the donations of a caring community to minister hope and change into broken lives. We have been carrying the vision for this ministry for twenty years and are privileged to see it now outworking itself everyday.

We are a Reintegration Programme offering supported accommodation to men with life controlling problems often associated with the use of alcohol and drugs.

We also run a program called Engage Wilderness which is a vital arm of Stepping Stone Ministries that has one purpose; that is to take men who's lives have become 'eroded' by any number of negative influences or life decisions and do everything we can to find a smouldering wick in them and fan it to flame again. Engage Wilderness is where men get out into the wild and discover stuff, discover the smell of life, track it down and ultimately find a road to discovering themselves again (we have all tasted life at some stage in our journey) We all have something to offer, a little wisdom, a listening ear, a pat on the shoulder and a brotherly love that wants to see our mates win in life and get on top of their mountains.
