Simms Pursuit Shoe review | Jim Perry

Comfortable footwear should be a top consideration when wet wading, fishing out of a boat or on a kayak or SUP. I have put the Simms Pursuit shoes to the test over the past year and can honestly say that they have held up exceptionally well when traipsing through the Aussie bush and fishing off my kayak in search of some our iconic native species in Southeast Queensland, such as the Australian Bass and my personal favourite, the Saratoga. This included stalking the muddy banks of the dam, wading the local creeks (which can be a slippery task) and bush bashing through heavy scrub and debris out west. I will also note they held up as a solid pair of rock fishing sneakers when shore casting.

Over the last 12 months of wearing the Simms Pursuit shoes, I have found them to be an excellent choice of wet wading sneaker, that covers a large range of salt and freshwater fishing scenarios. The shoes are lightweight, comfortable, breathable, have a super grippy non-marking sole (great if you’re in and out of the boat) and have an impressive, durable mesh which drains water quickly, once you’ve stepped out of the water.

The fact that the shoes shed water exceptionally well meant I never had to worry about that heavy saturated feel on my feet for the rest of day. Not being weighed down by soggy heavy footwear helps eliminate rubbing and blisters, which are nobody’s friend on a day of trekking in and out of the water.

After returning home from a day’s fishing, it was great to know that I could give them a quick rinse with the garden hose to clear off any remaining mud/gunk and let them dry in  the shade, ready for the next adventure.

Simms Pursuit shoes are a lightweight yet heavy hitter for your feet in my books, I would highly recommend them for the avid angler or adventurer in and out of the water.
