Quick Saltwater Fly Fish Before Work
I popped out this morning for a quick fish before work with Yoshi from Rod and Reel in Newmarket. We didn't see any of the work ups that had been heating up the harbour over the past few months but still managed to find a few rat kings to keep us entertained.
On mornings like this there is nothing better than getting away early and spending the first few hours on the water (Photo: Yoshi)
My ever faithful Nuclear Chicken fly only fooled this one tiny snapper......we did get distracted though (photo: Yoshi)
Yoshi hooked into something big early on.
It would be hard to call this a secret spot - #18 buoy right out in front of the sky tower (Photo: Yoshi)
What do you know? Kingfish at #18 (Photo: Yoshi)
As an Auckland based fly fisherman you'd be crazy not to make the most of the resource right on our door step. (Photo: Yoshi)
They may not be big kingfish but on a fly rod these guys are great sport.....and it's good to know that there were a few chasing flies that were at least twice as long (Photo: Yoshi)
