Manic Monday - Chris Dore wins the Waipahi!

Very happy to have the privilege of winning Gold in the 132nd annual Waipahi Gold Medal fishing competition yesterday on my debut. This is possibly New Zealand's oldest fishing competition now in its 132nd year and is contested by some of the regions top anglers annually. I landed a total of 20 fish across the day ranging from 0.5 - 1.5kg and weighed in 4 caught near the end of the afternoon for my entry. The weather was fair, with heavy rain around lunchtime but who's to complain: they usually fish this in hail, snow, sleet and all sorts. I think we got lucky there!

Results:

Gold medal winner - Chris Dore beat 13, 4 fish @ 4.92kg

Silver Medal - Jeff Hanson beat 3, 4 fish @ 4.71kg

Bronze Medal - Mike Weddell beat 24, 4 fish @ 4.21kg

Heavist fish - Dave Linklator beat 4 - 1.5kg

A big thanks to the competitors who it was great to meet afterwards, the Otago Anglers Assn and everyone who supports this event.
