Independent By Design – A Lamson story
For three decades, Lamson has been pushing the boundaries of fly reel design, earning a reputation for innovation, precision engineering, and uncompromising performance. Here at Manic Tackle Project, we're incredibly proud to have been part of that journey, representing Lamson throughout Australasia for more than 16 of those 30 years. It's a partnership built on a shared passion for fly fishing and a commitment to equipping anglers with gear that performs when it matters most.
As Lamson celebrates this milestone, we're pleased to share this letter from Lamson's Managing Partner, Ryan Harrison—a reflection on the people, ideas, and dedication that have shaped one of fly fishing's most respected brands over the past 30 years.
Here's to the next 30!

Waterworks-Lamson was founded thirty years ago by three brothers who share a love of the outdoors. We also shared the confidence that by combining our skills and experience we could create better gear for one of our outdoor passions: fly fishing.

We began as self-funded and independent optimists, doing our product development in Ketchum, Idaho’s cheapest available work space, our testing on Silver Creek and shipping from our garage. We seemed to be on to something because guides and fishermen quickly discovered and appreciated what we were up to.
As we grew, we built an eclectic team to join us in our original purpose -- to “make cool sh*t”.

Innovative. Better function. More reliable. More for your money. We wrapped this mission in a culture that accepts and encourages independent thought and action. We are avowedly not corporate because independence gives us the freedom to challenge convention, take risks, and put anglers ahead of everything else. We are a collection of real people committed to remaining independent, waking up every day with a smile because we love what we do.

We put together a little video to tell you some of our story, I hope you enjoy it.
