What better way to celebrate Valentines Day then to talk about probably the most romantic bug out there, the adult Damsel fly.
You'll generally know when it's time to be tying one of these on because you'll be covered head to toe in Damsels that are using you as a venue for impromptu group mating. If this isn't a big enough hint of what the trout are eating then you should probably reconsider fly fishing as a past time.
Normally most of us would be fishing a lethal nymph pattern but next time the Damsels are out and about try fishing an adult Damsel pattern like these:
