Friday Fly Day - Chris Dores Summer Patch

Without speaking too soon, summer is finally here it seems! The rivers are low and temperatures high, and while it seems bug life is running a few weeks behind there is more than enough insect activity to keep fish looking up.

Parachute Dads Favourite

Yellow Foam Willow Grub

Green Foam Willow Grub

Wicked Wulff

Para Dads Favourites and Foam Willow Grubs, often fished in tandem have been my go-to’s most days on the lowland rivers and streams, whereas the softer silhouette, yet high floating properties of the Wicked Wulff has been producing most of our fish in the backcountry.

Galloups Antacid

Kyles Deleatidium

For a more subtle terrestrial pattern I have been reaching for Galloups Antacid and its sure hard to go past Kyles Deleatidium when the fish are focussed subsurface. Watch out for beetle, cicada, adult damsels and craneflies over the coming weeks as trout focus more on these as numbers increase.

Fish hard, fish well and get out there! There’s a whole summer ahead of us!
