Team Tuesday - Manic Staffers Long Weekend #4

What do two local guides do when they find themselves with a few days off? Go fishing of course...

Wanaka's Matt Butler and I recently hit the road exploring a few of our favourite early season haunts. The fishing wasn't easy but by going longer and lighter and making sure each cast counted, we came up with some superb fish.

Trout condition was pretty good all round - exceptional in cases born of a mild, settled winter offering decent water temperatures and fish getting on the feed a month or so earlier.

Kyles Green Stoneflies, Iron Maidens and Kyles Deleatidium were the flies of choice and 4x Trouthunter nylon swam those flies nicely in varying flows.

Check out more of what Matt's doing on www.traveltruly.com and we look forward to sharing more pics as our guide season kicks in.
