Straightening a Coiled Fly Line A client of mine showed us a neat trick on-river in NZ! Stand in the water and let the current pull your fly-line downstream until your maximum casting distance is reached. With the point your rod tip about 1 meter above the water surface, rotate your rod and reel counter-clockwise for 10 revolutions (lefties go clockwise). This will remove the natural coiling in the fly-line that occurs through casting and you will now cast much more efficiently and more accurately. Repeat this process two or three times throughout the angling day. Even great casters create twists in their lines when they throw roll casts or change of direction casts. |

Sharpen Hooks Deep sinking weighted nymph patterns constantly bump across the rocky bottom of our rivers and dull the hook point. Chemically sharpened hooks can be touched up with a small hook hone to make sure they are “sticky-sharp”. Sharp hooks definitely catch more trout! |

I've had a rare opportunity to cast and fish with most of the two-handed rods from the world's best manufacturers. Yet, I still felt that something was missing, even from my favorite sticks - they could be better. Scott fly rods were sympathetic to my concerns, and over a period of more than four years, they steadily worked towards designing and manufacturing what I consider the ultimate series of Spey rods. With the new T2H, they've hit the nail on the head - beautifully finished lightweight rods that have a true progressive action suitable for all Spey casting styles. They deliver unparalleled feel and progressive power and are a true joy to fish.

I always like having the best stuff and when it comes to fly tying C&F Design is where it’s at. And once you’ve made those perfect flies C&F have the only fly boxes I would ever consider using. You might as well have the best!
